Ich war froh heute Morgen mein Bleibe zu verlassen. Herrlicher Morgen – strahlend blau und glasklar – auch noch frisch gegen acht Uhr. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Im Red Feather Caf\u00e9 – gleich um\u2018s Eck ordentlich gefr\u00fchst\u00fcckt. Der Mann am Counter (etwa mein Alter) pr\u00e4sentierte mir stolz einige Worte Deutsch – ich habe seinen Wortschatz noch um zwei, drei neue W\u00f6rter erweitert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Southern Tier Route der ACA (Adventure Cycling Association) geht auf der SR 98 von Ocotillo \u00fcber Calexico ( Grenz-Doppelstadt mit Mexicali) nach El Centro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ein Typ gestern in Jacumba hat mir davon abgeraten und ein Route weiter n\u00f6rdlich der Interstate empfohlen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ich bin dieser Empfehlung nicht gefolgt und wurde belohnt – kaum Verkehr – guter Belag und breiter Randstreifen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jetzt im Flachen da rollt der Blaue Elephant – kurz nach Mittag war ich in El Centro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ganz nebenbei – El Centro ist der Geburtsort von Cher. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ein vielleicht etwas schr\u00e4ger Vergleich: die unz\u00e4hligen Border-Patrol Autos hier an der mexikanischen Grenze, haben mich an meine Oder-Tour im vergangenen Mai erinnert, da stand auch an jeder Br\u00fccke nach Polen die Bundespolizei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was auch sehr interessant ist, nach ca. 40 km hatte ich die Yuha-W\u00fcste passiert und pl\u00f6tzlich gab es einen Wechsel zur Agrarlandschaft. Mein GPS zeigte dabei eine Lage unterhalb des Meeresspiegels an.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steuere einen RV Park an, der auf der Webseite auch Zeltstellpl\u00e4tze anbietet. Komme genau in die Mittagszeit – warte 30 min auf den Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Er zeigt mir ein St\u00fcckchen Wiese in der prallen Sonne – da laufen f\u00fcnf Sprenger und alles ist klatschnass. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meine nachhaltige Bitte mein Zelt auf dem Playground aufstellen zu d\u00fcrfen wird hartn\u00e4ckig abgelehnt – da w\u00fcrden die Kinder spielen – es sind aber weit und breit keine zu sehen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ich schaffe es nicht den Typ zu gewinnen. Die Alternative ist ein kurzfristig gebuchtes AirBnB ca. 20 min weg – sehr gepflegt und gro\u00dfz\u00fcgig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
