Heute ist mein 66. Geburtstag. Es ist wohl mein gef\u00fchlt l\u00e4ngster Geburtstag. W\u00e4hrend schon die ersten Gl\u00fcckw\u00fcnsche eintrudeln via SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook und Mail bin ich ja noch kalendarisch am 7.6. Mein Telefon bleibt still, da au\u00dfer meiner Familie kaum jemand meine US-Mobilnummer kennt. Vielen Dank auch nochmals auf diesem Wege an alle, die an mich zum Geburtstag gedacht haben.<\/p>\n

Die Alaska Inside Passage von Skagway mit der aktuell einmal pro Woche verkehrenden F\u00e4hre nach Prince Rupert in Kanada zu fahren ist sehr angenehm. Das Schiff ist kaum besetzt und so ist es ein entspanntes Dahingleiten durch eine bezaubernde Naturlandschaft.<\/p>\n

Ein tiefes Gef\u00fchl von Dankbarkeit macht sich breit, dass ich mir dies alles zeitlich, k\u00f6rperlich und materiell leisten kann. Ein besonderer Dank gilt dabei Marion, dass sie akzeptiert, dass ich so viele Wochen, mein eigenes Ding mache. In einer guten Woche werden wir uns ja auf Vancoucer Island bei unserem Sohn Julian treffen. Darauf freue ich mich nach einem Monat „Einsamkeit auf der Stra\u00dfe“ nat\u00fcrlich sehr.<\/p>\n

Leider sind die F\u00e4hrpl\u00e4ne von Alaska Ferries und B.C. Ferries um diese fr\u00fchen Termine in der Sommersaison nicht wirklich abgestimmt. Das bedeutet f\u00fcr mich bis kommenden Dienstag auf meine Weiterfahrt mit dem Schiff nach Port Hardy warten zu m\u00fcssen. Die Alternative w\u00e4ren rund 1500 Kilometer auf der Stra\u00dfe, das w\u00e4ren mindestens zus\u00e4tzliche 2 – 2 1\/2 Wochen sehr anspruchsvolles Radfahren. Also keine wirkliche Alternative im Hinblick auf mein Endziel San Francisco.<\/p>\n

Leider konnte ich mich von Liz und Charlie nicht verabschieden, irgendwie haben wir uns bei der Immigration aus den Augen verloren.<\/p>\n

Im Pioneer Inn hier in Prince Rupert bin ich nun bis Dienstag einquartiert. 12.6. gegen 20 Uhr geht das Schiff nach Port Hardy.<\/p>\n

Mein Dinner hier in einem coolen Pub mit frischer Seafood l\u00e4sst die Wartezeit nicht ganz so lange erscheinen.<\/p>\n
